SCION Enthusiasts Rock Northern Ohio
For Fifth Annual SCION Exposed™ Tour Event

A bit of mid-summer drizzle failed to dampen the spirits of nearly 350 SCION enthusiasts attending the 2009 SCION Exposed tour event in northern Ohio.

“SCION-ics” of all ages had their motors running throughout the day long SCION celebration on Saturday, July 11, 2009. This year’s event included fan friendly action at both Summit Motorsports Park and the Cedar Point Amusement Park/Resort.

Rain showers curtailed track activities at Summit Motorsports Park, limiting racing to only 30 minutes. However, SCION enthusiasts remained enthusiastic, spurred by Kenny Tran. The SCION Drag Team racing star spoke to the crowd over lunch, dishing up tales of his team’s exploits during the current race season.

Among the trackside attendees was Nick Borgia, an embedded journalist/blogger with Automoblog.net. Arriving in a SCION xB press vehicle, Borgia was impressed with both the event turnout and the creativity of SCION owners.

“It was a cool event,” he said. “I got to see some nice rides and chat with a few owners. Overall, I was impressed … not many people have the privilege of attending a company-sponsored event like this one.”

The party shifted gears to neighboring Sandusky, site of historic Cedar Point Amusement Park/Resort, for the much anticipated Car Show. Rain gave way to blue skies as nearly 175 SCION owners, in SCIONs of all varieties, strutted their stuff. Vehicles were judged for customization and prizes were awarded to the best SCION xA, xB, xD, and tC in the show.

The 2009 SCION Exposed tour event was as entertaining as it was SCION-tastic. The crowd was wowed by musician, Kristine Jackson, awed by a giant Claw Machine, and colored up with complimentary SCION-branded henna tattoos, provided by Cedar Point tattoo artists. To top a great day off with some thrills and chills, Cedar Point introduced attendees to some of the world’s tallest, fastest roller coasters.

Based on attendance and guest feedback, SCION’s Cincinnati-based team considered the event one of the best in the five-year history of SCION Exposed.

“Despite the weather, our SCION enthusiasts never let the conditions dampen their spirits,” said Julie Hoermle, SCION Regional Manager. “We met dozens of new owners and saw some amazingly creative customization done to our products. The passion remains high for all things SCION.”
